Lehigh Valley’s Newest Experience: The Chef’s Table at the Center at Holiday Inn

Stepping into the kitchen with Chef Ian.

Are you looking to have a fun night with five of your closest friends? Want a private setting, so you don’t have to play host at your house? Who can blame you! It can be a lot of work between cleaning and cooking the whole night, right?

Well, I have the perfect spot for you to enjoy a fantastic evening, or lunch or breakfast if you prefer daytime gatherings. One of the newest experiences in Lehigh Valley is the Chef’s Table at the Center at Holiday Inn located off of Route 100 and I-78.

FullSizeRenderThe private room, set behind a glass door just off the lobby area, is a unique setting for up to six people to enjoy. Here, you will be taken care of by your own server, and Chef Ian Beard can be as much of the experience as you want. He can make it a cooking lesson-type environment as he is preparing the food, or he will leave you to the privacy of the small room.

Our experience was a five course dinner, and we chose to include wine in our package. We started with a nice salad of tomato and mozzarella that was sourced from Philadelphia farmers markets. Next, we had a crabcake with an apple and pear slaw with crispy wontons on top, which was served over an aioli. Third course was a shrimp tempura appetizer served over a corn pancake with a nice yogurt sauce.

IMG_4211Our main course was braised short ribs served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. And, we even managed to sneak dessert in which was a light and fluffy puff pastry served with fresh berries and whipped cream. Each course had a different wine paired with it with an explanation of the entire dish and why that bottle was chosen.

The experience lasted roughly a little over two hours. There was an enormous amount of food served and they graciously created nice care packages to go which made great second meals the following night.

The experience can be tailored by what you want served, or you can let the chef have full discretion on the menu. That was the route we chose, and it was incredibly delicious. I think we all loved the crabcake, but the short ribs were very tender and had great flavor.

Here’s a short video to capture some of the experience for yourself:
